She is the poster child of online video staring in Joss Whedon’s online video hit Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and yesterday actress, writer and web series creator/ producer/ director Felicia Day made a big announcement that could very well jump start the sponsorships of Independent online video series.

Season Two of Felicia Day’s “The Guild” is exclusively premiering on Xbox LIVE on the newly launched Independent Video channel. Attracting over 9 million viewers in its first season “The Guild” is one of the internet’s hottest web series.

Season 1 went live today and Season 2 will premiere on Tuesday November 25th, day and date in all 26 Xbox LIVE countries, reaching an audience of more than 14 million. In addition to premiering on the Independent Video channel “The Guild” Season 2 will simultaneously be available on MSN Video and Zune Marketplace and the series will be sponsored by mobile operator Sprint.

What’s really cool about this deal, what makes it a really big deal is that Felicia held out turning down 25 other offers in order to retain the rights to her creation.

Keep in mind other online video content producers accepted upfront fees for their web series giving all rights for prices as low as $2000 per episode. Felicia held out so that now when she takes it to TV or to the Movies, DVD or even a multi-player video game she gets the money not MSN, not XBOX and not Sprint.

WAY TO GO FELICIA!

And a big shout out to her ICM agent George Ruiz. Nice work George.

This makes Felicia Day a true Online Video Leader.

Thanks for paving the path for the rest of us.

It took some asking to get an embed. I don’t think embeds are going to be available for the show.
