If you haven’t had a chance to check out the trailer for Crackle’s new series The Bannen Way I suggest you do. This trailer is not the first trailer for The Bannen Way but it still has the essence of the original trailer that launched an unknown actor and director on their careers by selling their idea to Sony and setting the entire town of Hollywood a buzz about their new Web Series / Electronic Sell Through Feature. That’s right, the day the first episode of The Bannen Way premiers on Crackle, the entire feature length film with be available to purchase on iTunes. – Pretty cool.

I’ve been after an interview with Actor, co-writer and executive producer Mark Gantt and co-creator, co-writer, director, and executive producer Jesse Warren for about a year, hopefully I will have their story here before the first episode of The Bannen Way comes out Jan 6.

People often ask me how to get more followers on Twitter as if having a large number of followers will win them a prize and make them rich. Social media and social media marketing are not about winning a popularity contest. Social media is about providing relevant information to people who care about it. It’s like a cocktail party.

You don’t just walk into a cocktail party, walk up to a group of people you don’t know and start telling them about your super great new online video series that they didn’t ask about. You walk into a cocktail party and listen to a conversation and wait for an appropriate time to interject or be invited to comment. Most times it’s best to ask other people questions and talk about them rather that talk about yourself. The same is true on Twitter and other social networking sites. If you want to grow your numbers listen to other people who are talking about the topics that you are interested in, then comment, ask questions, ReTweet their comments or share links to their sites. Once you find that people are interested in your show share news about it but don’t jam it down their throat. Give it to them in a fun way. Present it like fine hors d’oeuvres for the sampling. You wouldn’t like it if someone jammed some weenies in your face. Don’t do it to other people.

Take for example the above video, Visual Effects and the Art from LA411 and Variety 411. It’s part of Production Tech Tips, a monthly video series of shorts focusing on the tools being used and developed for the film, video, and online production world.

Imagine that, two industry resources providing more resources for their community.

I found a nice dark booth (sorry I made you look so dark Marc) at Cinespace during a TubeFilter Web TV MeetUp to interview Marc about his photos and the Social Media.

Besides being a great photographer, a nice guy and easy to work with the thing that makes Marc so valuable is that not only does he know who the Rock Stars of Web Video and Social Media are, he actually knows those Rock Stars.

Marc is also using Web Video to market his work:

He’s also an award winer kind of guy. Michael became the youngest recipient of the Academy of Television of Arts and Sciences Best Informational Program when “alt.news 26:46″ won four Emmy’s in 2001 and 2002.

I asked Michael if he had any tips for producers working with the RED and here are a few tips:

1. Research your workflow
Know before you shoot how you are going to deliver your final product. Is it going to be finished for Television or for Theatrical Distribution? Or Both?

2. The cheaper you go with RED the slower you will move
If you just invest in the minimum amount of production and post production gear you need you will move a lot slower than if you spend more on better faster gear.

3. Spend upfront time rendering
If you render out all your footage ahead of time so that you can edit without rendering your workflow is going to go a lot smoother and you will finish faster.
