You Don’t Have to Live In Hollywood to Get an Agent

I caught up with Online Video Leader, Streamy Award winning writer/producer/director Blake Calhoun while he was visiting Los Angeles and he told me about getting a big Hollywood Agent while living in Dallas Texas.

For years Blake Calhoun has been making Independent Films while living in Dallas, Texas but in between features he made the web series PINK that landed him an agent at UTA and a manager at Generate.

Do date Blake has release three web series and has two more on the way.

    Thanks for your thoughts, Blake! I agree 100% — if iTunes would only open up their selling platform to us indie producers, we’d actually have a business model. From what I understand, they’re not doing it because all that free video is what drives iPod sales.

    I did read recently that Ooyala might develop something we could use. Fingers crossed….

    I think Apple doesn’t want to be in the business of writing hundreds or thousands of one and two dollar checks. But I could be wrong.

    They could perhaps only write checks when a certain amount of revenue is reached. Seems to be the common practice with other platforms.
